Housing as a foundation
Lantern’s Housing First – Stability First approach treats safe housing as a foundation for progress, not a reward for perfect behavior.
Relapse, conflict, or a minor rule violation is not an automatic discharge. Staff consider the circumstances, the resident’s response, recovery-support needs, and the safety of the community.
Support and a chance to respond
When concerns arise, the policy calls for documenting the issue, explaining expectations, and giving residents a chance to respond and correct behavior unless immediate safety requires urgent action.
Depending on the situation, staff may consider additional recovery support, a written behavioral agreement, closer monitoring, or referral to licensed clinical services. Clinical decisions belong to qualified professionals.
Transfers, discharge, and urgent safety
If a resident cannot remain safely in the current home, staff first consider a transfer to another Lantern home when available and appropriate. Discharge receives leadership review. Planning considers the next housing arrangement, transportation, belongings, and continuing support where possible.
Immediate danger can require an emergency response. These policies do not guarantee continued placement or an available transfer bed.
How to raise a concern
You can submit a grievance verbally or in writing to any staff member. Staff document the concern and route it to the appropriate leader. Serious concerns go to the Program Director or Executive Director. If the assigned leader is involved, the matter goes to the next higher authority.
Lantern prohibits retaliation for good-faith complaints. Information is handled on a need-to-know basis for review, resolution, and safety.
Ask staff for the current grievance procedure and leadership contact details. For general help reaching the program, call 843-806-1085.
